  Project 1.
Designed for a family in Midwest USA who make the most of outdoor living. The pool house comprises a bar and washroom facilities and is also wired for sound. Water falls in abundance into the naturalized pond and is lit to keep it the centre of interest at night. Much of the planting is indigenous to the Midwest and has been encouraged to naturalize in contrast to the swimming pool. The main deck area is considerably lower than the surrounding land and the stones of the waterfall appear to have been washed into their present location. The evergreen trees above the wall create more of an enclave below as they mature making this a very private space.

Project 2
This residence in the county of Surrey in England was built within the grounds of a large stately home. The design concept was to create a practical outdoor living space for a professional couple while maintaining some link to the original property. The walls that border and divide the space where intentionally left incomplete to give the appearance that demolition was curtailed and the original walls of the old house preserved. Ivy was planted and
encouraged to cover much of the wall. The mortar used to lay the bricks was typical of older construction
with a high lime content to encourage the growth of moss. An old granite mill stone was used to create a
bubbling fountain adjacent the main terrace and adds to the tranquillity of the space.

Project 3
This design for a professional couple in the United States transformed what was a blacktop driveway into
an intimate side garden with space enough for two and morning coffee. A European Hornbeam hedge provides
additional privacy from the close house next door. The back garden area represented more of a challenge due
to the installation of an informal shaped pool in a small formal area. By introducing a formal flagstone but laying it in a random pattern at forty five degrees to the house we were able to unify the space and blend the two elements. Taller planting encroaches near to the pool edge in places to create interest and encourage one to explore the hidden areas of the garden. A hidden seat is situated beneath the tree canopy at the far end of the garden to provide a cool retreat.
